Shavkapito is fairly obscure red grape variety found in Georgia. It is produced by some of Georgia’s most accessible wineries such as Pheasant’s Tears and Château Mukhrani. It is generally considered to be a lighter, fresher version of Saperavi.
Chateau Mukhrani is an historic wine estate located close to Tbilisi in Georgia. The cellars were renovated in 2003 and today the vineyards cultivate an extensive range of local varieties such as Goruli Mtsvane, Chinuri, Tavkveri and Shavkapito.
Founded in 1997 on the grounds of a 19th century winery, Teliani winery has become one of the leading producers of Georgian wines. Located in the Kakheti region it has international representation of its wines from local varieties such as Tsolikauri and Saperavi.
